Its important for us expectant mothers to relax and try and enjoy our pregnancy.

Rest

Pregnancy is a great excuse to do what most of us consider the most enjoyable activity: nothing. Your body needs a lot of rest during this time, so take advantage of it and enjoy relaxing, taking a nap if needed.

Pamper yourself

Pamper yourself by treating yourself to some new maternity clothes, enjoying a manicure or pregnancy massage. Your partner and family may want to spoil you during this time, and there is nothing wrong with that. Let them. Pampering yourself is a one of the best ways to make pregnancy enjoyable.

Connect with your baby

Book a private baby scan, enjoy that 30-minute baby bonding experience, relaxation music and mood lighting. Experience it with just you and your partner, you and a friend or a family member, bring up to 5 people with you during your scan. Try talking/ listening to music with your baby.

Rubbing or massaging your belly, keeping a feel out for baby’s kicks (in the third trimester).

Exercise

Exercising during pregnancy can be good for you and your baby. Keep up your normal daily physical activity or exercise (sport, running, yoga, dancing, or even walking to the shops and back) for as long as you feel comfortable. Avoid strenuous exercise and make sure you stay hydrated throughout. Make sure if you are taking a class that the teacher is aware you are pregnant.

Exercise releases good endorphins and will be beneficial for you and baby to stay healthy. It is a good opportunity to try something new such as pregnancy yoga or aquanatal classes.

Pregnancy journal

Taking pictures of your bump, watching it grow, even when you think it can’t get any bigger. Make note of when you did your first positive pregnancy test, your first scan, when you felt baby first, date of your baby shower. These are memories that will last forever and will be nice to show your baby one day!
